ROMEO IN LOVE is Carmen Mota’s sixth
musical staged by the Pirámide de Arona. Eight years of success with the public
and critics with “Festival latino”, “Embrujo”, “Pasión Española” ,“Fuego y
Danza” and “Pasión y Destino” confirm the prestige of the choreographer and of
the Auditorium.
On this occasion, Carmen Mota was inspired by a classic
of universal literature, “Romeo y Julieta ” by William Shakespeare, to give life
to the characters of the central plot of Romeo in Love. Shakespeare set the
lovers’ tale in XIVth century Verona. The new musical by Carmen Mota moves it
forward to the present day, in a modern and original adaptation of the classic
work, showing that true love is timeless.
This love story begins the
night that Romeo meets Juliet and falls hopelessly in love with her, although
his love is forbidden as they belong to different and rival families. She
reciprocates his love and they wed in secret, as they know that to make their
love public would mean separating for ever.
But no secret can be kept for too long... when the hatred between two families overshadows the love between two young people. Now that both families have discovered this union, it can only lead to tragedy. Will true love triumph over family feuds?
